Many anticancer drugs affect the bone marrow, decreasing its ability to produce blood cells. The white blood cells created in the bone marrow help to defend your body by fighting bacteria that cause virus. If the number of white cells in your blood decreased, then there is a high risk of getting an infection. So it is very important that you should try to prevent infection by taking the following steps;

Do not cut your nail cuticles. Always use cuticle cream and remover for it.

If your skin is cracked and becomes dry, use oil or lotion to soften and heal it.

After each bowel movement, clean the rectal part softly. If still there is some pain or any type of problem then you may ask your nurse or doctor for advice.

Wash your hands during the day. Be sure to wash them well before and after eating something or using bathroom.
