Abraham-Hicks Quote: “Your Standard of Success…”

One of the things that people often wonder about when first discovering the Law of Attraction is whether or not the teachings encourage wanton materialism. And, I have to admit that with all the talk of manifesting anything you desire, it really can seem that the focus is indeed on stuff, stuff, stuff.

But here’s what I think the LOA teachings are really about: Joy.

You see, though there is nothing wrong with the stuff (in my opinion), the real aim of working with the LOA is learning how to Feel Good. When you do that, all the stuff you want to manifest flows into your life easily. It’s your point of creation. As I like to say, Feel Good and the Rest Will Follow.

Here’s a wonderful excerpt from The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham by Abraham-Hicks that speaks to this:

“The achievement of anything you desire must be considered success, whether it is a trophy, money, relationships, or things. But if you will let your standard of success be your achievement of joy, everything else will fall easily into place.”

That’s such a great quote. I’ve been amused by all of the outrage at The Secret and Law of Attraction because people feel like it’s being used too much to try and manifest money. I disagree with the basic assumption that it’s somehow bad or selfish to want money and focus energy on it. I think we can all have lots of money and that’s great.

I think your post brings the real issue into focus very nicely: people are trying to manifest money because they think it will bring them joy. And quite frankly, I think it will go a long way to helping people be happier. If we’re not distracted by our basic necessities, it’s easier to focus on our joy. However, I love the idea that if we start out focusing on our joy, the money and everything else will take care of themselves. That has really helped shift a perspective for me. Wonderful!

When I first began study of the Abraham material, the thing that I apprecaited the most about it was the focus on using our FEELINGS as our navigational tools to monitor whether we were on track with allowing our desires. About a year ago, a friend surprised me with the “ASK and It Is Given” card deck…which I LOVE. One of the cards addresses just this topic of “Success”…and it makes it real simple:

The level of success in a person’s life is measured by their level of JOY.

    THANKS for this reminder!
