Carnival of Healing #69: Let’s Talk about the Good Stuff
Happy Saturday all, I’ve just had the pleasure of combing through this week’s submissions for the admirable and fabulous Carnival of Healing. I want to expressly thank each and every one of you who sent in your offerings to this edition. In a wonderful act of serendipity, a theme has emerged—that of happiness; what gets us there, what keeps us there, what helps others get there.
Again, thanks to everyone who submitted, and to the readers of the Carnival of Healing—enjoy!
What Gets Us There:
We’ll get right to the point with this article by Raymond David Salas of ZenChill.com: The Key to Happiness. It’s an excellent piece about the one very simple thing that anyone can do to be happy—just decide to be happy. Be sure to check out Raymond’s “Tools for Happiness” about halfway down the article (my favorite is “Joy Breaks”)
Creativity:
Dan at Sights and Sounds from the Fifth Column presents Improving Your Life through Personal Creativity. In this lovely article, Dan, who finds him self a “poly-creative”, i.e. working in many mediums (I can relate!), lists some of the benefits of creative activity. Might just help kick start your own creativity.
Jane Chin, at Live Your Inspiration, in What Moves Us, writes about how we often don’t know how our creative offerings will affect others—we may not think much of what we create, but it could profoundly move someone, or many people. Be sure to read down to the sweet poem she includes, as a case in point, written by her husband during their courtship.
Intuition/Subconscious Mind:
John Hill at Universe of Success submits this post: Do You Believe in Magic? In it, he writes about a technique he discovered that can help you access your intuition/subconscious when making decisions. This tool reminds me very much of “pre-programming” (you’ll have to read John’s post to get his secret). I’m definitely going to give it a try.
The Power of Now:
Praveen of Tao of Simplicity, presents Resetting, a technique he developed to get himself back into the present moment “whenever I goof off, lose my temper, or get stressed”. I wouldn’t miss the final paragraph of this post: he describes a related technique that “reinforces that when things change, like the stock market, we can reset back to a starting point, and cope with it.” Profound. And, I particularly like that he’s applying this concept to financial matters. I’m a fan of anything that gets us thinking about money in new and empowering ways.
Positive Thinking:
From Dr. Deyo Wants You to Be Happy, Mary Deyo presents this psychologically oriented piece on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Change Your Thinking, and Change Your Life. This article discusses how CBT links negative beliefs, feelings, and thoughts with vulnerability to depression; and of course links positive beliefs, feelings, and thoughts with resistance to depression. Couldn’t agree more.
Patricia at A Better You Blog presents: Self-Fulfilling Prophecy. In this submission, Patricia offers encouragement for those seeking to add more positivity into their own lives, an extensive discussion on the effects of negative thinking, and her take on the Law of Attraction. I especially appreciate the breadth and depth of this article—if you’re looking for something meaty to bite into, this is your ticket.
Life Purpose:
And finally, Nneka of Balanced Life Center, presents Say YES to Your Purpose. Nneka shares her own life purpose and discusses the importance of acting on it—namely how important it is to recognize and utilize opportunities that help us fulfill that purpose.
Well, that about wraps it up for this edition of Carnival of Healing. Thanks for coming along!
